Hello, beloved Astro Tribe!
As we move through Aquarius season, I hope you are focusing on the present moment and honoring your needs. The beginning of this year brought on social restrictions, a unique opportunity for self-reflection, and the desire to reassess the most important areas of your life. What’s more, the past came creeping back in for us to resolve; while this can feel frustrating, it was necessary to spur collective healing. The lackluster start to this year can be attributed to a particular shift: Mercury and Venus were both retrograde in the sign of Capricorn. Thankfully, Aries season (beginning March 21) is when we will start to feel more relief. Toward the end of February, we will also experience a clearing of this energetically-dense fog, thus leading to forward movement.

FORECAST FOR THE COLLECTIVE: FREEDOM FROM RESTRICTION
Welcome to Aquarius season! This time period will show you the power of your individuality. Treat this as an opportunity to release what’s restricting you from expressing the light you have to offer the world. The symbol of Aquarius energy is the Water-Bearer, representing the sign’s life path of sharing enlightenment and higher-octave ideas to shift the collective consciousness. Various phenomenon—such as the Great Resignation, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, and the rise of influential online thought leaders—are signs that the collective is taking this power back. Aquarius season will encourage further liberation from the shackles of societal expectations, and highlight the need to embrace your individual self-worth.
The energy of February will be kickstarted by a rebellious new moon in the air sign of Aquarius on February 1. A new moon marks the moment where the sun and moon form a connection in the same zodiac sign, thus initiating a new lunar cycle. This new moon is heavily influenced by its harsh connection with unpredictable Uranus in Taurus. What exactly does this planetary alignment mean? As we move through the last half of the month, expect sudden changes and the need to make unplanned decisions. This energy can also exacerbate global conflict, protests, and the reinforcement of law through violence.
This first week of February, the weight of the stagnant, challenging retrograde energy we’ve experienced since the new year will start to lift, thanks to Venus and Mercury both turning direct in Capricorn. This double-whammy retrograde cycle has been responsible for delays, more pandemic social restrictions, and financial setbacks. We must keep in mind that both planets will be in a post-retrograde shadow phase for the remainder of the month. As a result, the dust will fully settle after March 2—so, keep moving forward and don’t give up just yet!
Two transits—Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus—are also heavily influencing the energy of February. Saturn in Aquarius represents collective restriction, and has bearing on the future structure of society. Meanwhile, Uranus in Taurus influences sudden changes, as well as the need to revolutionize our values, money, sustainability, and how we cultivate abundance. As a society, this month has us questioning our worth and value, influencing our need to take drastic action toward a better future.
To understand the energy of the current transit on a deeper level, let’s look at a few notable Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus cycles from the past. Both planets were aligned in these signs during the Bubonic Plague or Black Death (1340s-1350s), as well as the Great Depression and WW2 (1930s-1940s). As the Bubonic Plague ended, there was an uprising of the “lower class” against feudalism—a system in which noble landowners gave serfs protection in exchange for their labor. This was the worst pandemic in history, killing much of the workforce and creating an environment for the serfs to finally have the upper hand. You can see the similarities compared to today with the Great Resignation, as workers now strive to gain the upper hand through quitting or renegotiating pay.
During this transit in the 1930s and 1940s, there also was a push towards restructuring the economy and serving the working class after the Great Depression hit the United States. This destruction of the financial markets heavily influenced social change. Programs were created by the government focused on transforming the financial system and helping the working class with initiatives like the New Deal from FDR (who also happened to be an Aquarius president). So, what does this mean for the current transit we are experiencing? As we move through Aquarius season, be prepared to make decisions based on who you truly are. Expect societal change with an emphasis on our future economy, the planet, and what we value. As a collective, it’s time for us to reclaim our worth!
Mid-month, we will see a bold, bright, and self-expressive full moon in Leo on February 16. The Leo moon will form a connection with one of the royal stars of Persia, Regulus. Fixed-star queen Bernadette Brady described Regulus as a star of massive success and prestige, as long as there is no revenge taken on the path to greatness. Creative breakthroughs, long-awaited manifestations, and exciting opportunities can present themselves midway through the month thanks to this positive lunation. Themes that began on the New Moon in Leo last year on August 8 will now reach completion.
Pisces season will begin a few days later on February 18, as the sun moves into the final sign finishing the official zodiac year cycle. The sun in Pisces will begin to energize the auspicious energy of Jupiter and Neptune, granting us the energy of hope, positivity, and expansion. This is when we will start to experience positives like growth, lucky breaks, and financial increases. Wishing all of my Pisces readers a vibrant season!
As the month completes, the Pluto return for the United States (there are three this year) will take place on February 22, 2022. Using the United States Sibley Chart for analysis, we can see that Pluto will return to the exact degree in Capricorn when the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. In astrology, Pluto represents destruction, power, and regeneration—exposing the dark in order for such negativity to be removed. When a civilization experiences a Pluto return, cracks in its foundation can prove to be detrimental.
However, this does not mean that this day marks the end of the US as we know it. In reality, it takes years for Pluto return energy to manifest itself. Pluto in Capricorn has been slowly breaking down US government structures through financial, systemic, and world crises since 2008. So no, this year is not the end of the United States as we know it; but we are going to experience seriously transformative events that will completely shift our government structure. This year will be a major trigger towards change.
In terms of the upcoming Pluto return in February, we can begin to experience a sweeping transformation surrounding our financial systems, infrastructure, and farming industries this year. This is because a whopping 5 planets (Venus, Mars, Pluto, Mercury and Saturn) will be sitting in the United States money sector on the day of the return! I will perform a deeper dive into this event in a separate post, but do keep a lookout in the news headlines during this time.
