As the week begins on Sunday, December 14, the planet of war, action, drive, and anger, Mars, is in Sagittarius at 29°. This is the final degree, also called the anaretic degree, in astrology. This is a critical degree signifying intense lessons, karmic lessons, and a sense of urgency before a sign's completion. You may feel this today, especially if you have Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces, or Virgo placements.
This is also forming a separating square with Saturn in Pisces, indicating that the tension has already peaked and now needs to be integrated. It's essential to remain aware of arguments, fights, and the need to end something you may regret later, suddenly. This also indicates some travel mishaps, accidents, or falls, so it's essential to take your time and be careful.
Monday, December 15 — Mars enters Capricorn
On Monday, December 15, Mars leaves Sagittarius and enters its exaltation in Capricorn. Exaltation in Astrology is when a planet is at its most powerful and comfortable in a zodiac sign. If you have Mars in Capricorn or Capricorn placements in your chart, you will feel this transit the most. Mars will be here until January 23, 2026. Mars in Capricorn indicates the drive and desire to work diligently and patiently towards one's goals. This is a productive transit, giving you the energy to stay the course and build a solid structural foundation for what's coming in 2026. This is also the green light from the universe to set the goals you want to achieve next year, and go after them successfully! A vision board would serve you well during this time, especially with Mars forming harmonious aspects to Saturn and Neptune in Pisces.
Tuesday, December 16 — Sagittarius Sun square Saturn in Pisces
The Sagittarius Sun will form an exact harsh square aspect with Saturn in Pisces on Tuesday, December 16. A Sun square Saturn aspect can be challenging, as Saturn is considered a malefic planet in astrology. It can douse the Sun's positive rays, bringing restriction, challenges, and harsh lessons to a luminary meant to shine. Sagittarius and Pisces placements will feel this the most. Today, you may feel like you're treading water, a little down for the count, and underappreciated. The good news is that this is a quick transit and will be over soon!
Wednesday & Thursday, December 17 - 19 — Moon enters Sagittarius
The Moon moves into Sagittarius and is gearing up for Friday's New Moon as we head into Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The Moon will form an exact connection with the planet of communication, Mercury, on Thursday, activating essential conversations and how we articulate ourselves. I must note that Mercury is in its detriment (not comfortable), and words may be blunt and potentially offensive if you're not careful. This is also a Waning Crescent, also called a Balsamic Moon— symbolizing rest, release, and preparation right before a New Moon. It would be wise to avoid those critical conversations, use tactful language, and welcome this fresh beginning.
Friday, December 19 — New Moon in Sagittarius at 8:43 pm EST
The New Moon in Sagittarius is occurring at the end of the work week on Friday at 8:43 pm EST. The Moon and Sun are conjunct (together) in Sagittarius with Venus, and forming a square to Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. Together, these aspects indicate tension leading to change and a beneficial, expansive, and positive new beginning. Sagittarius and Pisces placements will feel this New Moon activation the most.
For some folks as well, if you've had issues with water and plumbing, they may be resolved during the next four weeks of the new lunar cycle. For others, you may be travelling long distances or internationally for a water-related journey. Taking a new course or certification to expand your experience and knowledge could also come up for some of you. A retreat could even be in the stars. This transit activates themes of rebellion against the suppression of freedom, spiritual autonomy, cultural identity, and the breaking of ideological chains.
