Because the planet and the zodiac sign share similar qualities, this placement is amplified. While it depends on the entire birth chart, those who have Mercury in Gemini in their birth chart, for example, tend to be talented writers, communicators, marketers, journalists, teachers, event planners, or simply excellent communicators.
This particular Mercury in Gemini transit will last until June 1 and is a time of mental clarity, clear cognition, and being social, connecting with your local community and peers. Mercury with Uranus in Gemini on this day for the first time is also completely shaking up this area of your life and encouraging you to expand your circle of peers and connections. This may influence you toward new peers who are eccentric, brilliant, and authentic. A lot of you are feeling like you are emerging from a cocoon after a period of hibernation and internal focus. Manifestation through the mind is also occurring at a faster rate, so treat it like a spell you are casting over your life. It is important to be mindful of your thoughts during this transit. I must also note that this is the first time in our lifetime that Mercury and Uranus are both in the zodiac sign of Gemini, and we will experience the first Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Gemini since the 1940s on May 17. Monday, May 18: Mars enters Taurus, Venus enters Cancer
Two important events occur on this day: Mars enters Taurus, and Venus enters Cancer. Mars, the planet ruling action, passion, and drive, moves into its detriment in Taurus. Detriment in astrology means that a planet is in the opposite sign from the one it rules, so Mars is not especially comfortable in the zodiac sign Taurus. Taurus is associated with pleasure, comfort, security, and beauty, the complete antithesis of Mars. This transit is the season of indulgence, taking life slower, and making time for pleasure. Indulgence at social events or seeking pleasurable experiences is a theme. Overindulgence is where the detriment comes in, so it is important during Mars in Taurus not to overdo it. Mars in Taurus lasts until June 28.
The same day, Venus, the planet governing love, material possessions, and relationships, enters Cancer. Venus is also joining Jupiter in Cancer; they are both known as the benefics, bringing positive results. Cancer is associated with the mother, home, family, emotional safety, and nostalgia. Reconnecting with family, past friendships, or people you grew up with could come up during this transit. Venus in Cancer softens love and relationships, making people more sentimental, nurturing, and protective over what and who they care about. I also want to note that Mars and Venus are forming a sextile, a harmonious planetary connection, during Gemini season.
