Great question! I do them and I have found going back to the source - African traditions of Ifa and utilizing those deities work for me. Every. time. There are different occult practices so it takes just exploring and seeing what works for you - I've explored in addition Hoo Doo and Pagan rituals.
For all of my clients and members though I have a hard fast rule of first getting "your mind right" before getting into magickal practices So this is first manifesting things with your mind -- that's it. This is what being an alchemist is - you are so one with source that it materializes with your mind. I realized this was the key a few years ago and now any ceremonial magick I add is for my own pleasure and to give it extra "oomph".
It's your discretion on when you'd like to start! I knew my mind was right when I can think or write out something and it literally manifests sometimes in a DAY. That is when you know you're ready in my opinion.
Another thing is if you want to connect with your ancestors - removing subconscious blocks (getting your mind right) is still key. It's harder for them to make contact if you are still too attached to the 3D and this matrix reality. How can you manifest from a candle lighting if you are blocked mentally?
Clearing the pathway through Meditation is HUGE!!!! On top of practicing manifestation with your mind, having a regular meditation practice is key so you can actually practice listening to your intuition and messages that are not your own.
I will be sharing more content on manifestation - one special series for members only! There will be a public one for Youtube but not as detailed at all as here.
If you do want to start - a simple ancestral altar is a good place to. The altar is where they come through and commune with you. Keeping a small table (not in your sleeping space, preferable a closet or somewhere private or you will never sleep) with just a glass of clean water, photos or items from deceased loved ones. Ensure you clean everything - I create a wash with lavender, bay & florida water. Using a wood table of a natural element is good with a table cloth that speaks to a spiritual deity that you admire - I choose yellow for Oshun. When I do certain workings I also call on Lilith.
The thing is with ancestral altars there are some rules but really it's what you make of it!
You are a wealth of knowledge! This helps TREMENDOUSLY! xx
